Trying to understand a ununderstood term called “future” or “design for day after tomorrow”. This blog explores and shares different concepts happening around the world and try to understand “future” or “design for day after tomorrow” or probably the difference between those two terms
Apart from one voice translation & projector feature, personally i did not like other features mentioned in Pomegranate website, but thought to mention it here on the blog. Because it has a coffee maker, harmonica & a shaver which other phones does not have. Also the sort of technology they have mentioned is also worth watching.
What would be our future search?? How would technology enhance our everyday life?? How, we as interaction designers, will enable technology for everyday life? How will we search a friend’s house tomorrow? How health concious we will be tomorrow? Lots & lots of questions..
How would be a future browser would be? How would be user experience of future browsers? Joint work of mozilla labs and adaptive path conceptualized a future web browser “Aurora”.
Aurora explores new ways people could interact with the Web in the future based on projected technological trends and recanal-world scenarios. Jesse James Garrett (the guy who coined the term AJAX) designed and narrated part one of a video series demonstrating what the future of the web might look like.
Personally i like multi user interaction which allows multiple users interacting with each other on a single browser. Also i liked the way they have created a sort of universe where all data can be put up and interesting way of categorizing the contents.
I will start my first post with my favorite Nokia Morph. A concept phone developed by Nokia Research Center (NRC) in collaboration with the Cambridge Nanoscience Centre (United Kingdom). It is a real nice walk through of how our mobile phones would be tomorrow.
Nice combination of design and nano technology. Nanotechnology enables materials and components that are flexible, stretchable, transparent and remarkably strong. It also has self cleaning & sensing the environment feature. I am personally interested in sensing the environment which helps users to examine the environment around them in completely new ways, from analyzing air pollution, to gaining insight into bio-chemical traces and processes. Video would give more idea about it.
Why this blogg?? hmmm.. let me try to explain it (i hope i can make you understand)
The idea is, we all have always come across a word called “future” or “futuristic design” (for designers), but what we actually mean by that. Does it actually say that “this design will come in 2030 or 2050 or something similar!!”. I have not understood the term well, probably i might take some time to understand it completely.
Today afternoon i was talking a good friend of mine about the same term and somehow the discussion pronounced a word “design for day after tomorrow” and i liked it very much. So thought why not to share so called “futurstic designs” with the community and people around.
In the cover image, there is a person standing and looking at blank white sheets. I guess that is me. I am also almost blank about the term “design for day after tomorrow” and that’s why i ended up putting that image as cover image. Similar way, the fonts has the same funda which i used to write “design for day after tomorrow” is blurred and bit unclear, representing my situation towards main tag line.
Let’s see how is goes and your response it warm welcomed.
